SUPPORTING GREAT TELEVISION

A Column to Support Great Television

In Notes on November 22, 2010 at 8:55 am

America still loves television.

The average person watches almost 5 hours a day – an all-time high and a 20 percent increase from a decade ago, according to the Nielsen Company’s latest data.

Even in this age of Facebook, people spend just one-fifth as much time online as they do watching television.

TV Columnist isn’t for them.

Instead, I want to write for discerning viewers – people who seek out quality programming and are interested in how it shapes our culture and everyday lives.

My goals are to examine the strengths and weaknesses of given people, programs and channels; raise awareness of trends that affect the medium; and consider television’s enduring role as a mirror that reflects society.

Above all, I want to offer honest, fair criticism.

Please visit regularly and leave your feedback; I really want to hear from you.

Together, let’s support great television – one column at a time.
